With a population of 136 million, it is the world’s most populous island, and one of the most densely populated regions in the world. It is home to 60% of Indonesia’s population. It contains beautiful countryside and filthy cities, tranquil rural scenes and streets congested with traffic. In this mythical land, still mostly unknown by outsiders, ancient cities surrounded by legendary history and rich, lush nature lays on display. It’s like you turn back time here, authentic Asian country where no ATM’s, 7-Eleven’s or McDonalds still exists and where holly men are more respected than movie stars. Even in major city’s random hours of electrical power, you will rarely see person with cell phone and that what makes it one of my favorite asian destinations.
