Laos is the least developed of the three former French Indochinese states. It is described as “country of 1000 smiles” and no doubt people are laid back and easy going. You need to get of tourist track to see something more interesting and this is easy to do if you can ride motorbike. There is many waterfalls, scenic mountains where you can find tribal villages and even though people in rural areas are camera shy you just need to spend some time hanging around, curious kids will come out and let you snap pictures of them.
