Evenkia located 1000km north from Krasnojarsk in the center of Russia. Reachable only in cold weather by winter roads “Zemnik” or by helicopters. Area of 767,600 km2. it is size of Spain multiplied by 1.5 and only 20.000 people live there. Capital is Tura. 99% of Evenkia is covered by untouched, primeval impassable taiga with lots of lakes, big and small rivers, strange, unusual flora and fauna, unforgettable canyons and waterfalls. Cold, harsh winter climate. Deep in taiga woods there is only few hunters left who live there through the year. It is certain kind of people who choose to live and hunt in such remoteness and we had a chance to visit them. We stayed near Diupkun lake in the hut of Hunter Oleg. Read more...

Unusual heavy rains in July combined with high tides of the ocean triggered massive flooding in Thailand. Approximately one third of all provinces are affected. Locals say last flooding this magnitude was 60-70 years ago. Most of my pictures captures smiling Thai people, truth is the flooding has already killed 356, over 8 million people are affected. Survivors of this devastating event will need help in the days, weeks and months to come. Read more...

South of India, Tamil Nadu history dates back to several thousand years. This state is rich in monuments and temples that are ancient and each has its own story of religious, artistic and cultural accomplishment. It is a land where traditions and culture blend and continue to live. Month of April is full of ceremonies and that’s when I went to witness them. Three cities got on my list, Trichy, Madurai, and most south-est point – Kanyakumari. It is known for amazing sunsets and sunrises which draws western and local travelers. For local people it looks like has more meaning than just beauty of nature, every morning crowds come to worship sunrise while bathing in waters where Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal meet.

Madurai is another large city in Tamil Nadu region. City has many tourist spots that attract the people all around the world. There are many artistic temples that speak about the architectural skill of the people in the old days. The celestial marriage of Meenakshi and Sundareswarar in Meenakshi Temple afterwords followed by Car festival is an unforgettable event with thousands devotees swarming the temple to worship the divine couple while streets full of people watching huge Chariot using ropes and man power to pull this thing around.

Trichy itself has a long history dating back to the centuries before the Christian era when it was a Chola citadel the city and its fort, as they stand today, were built by the Nayaks of Madurai. Most famous landmark of Tiruchirappalli (Trichy)  is the Rock Fort Temple, a spectacular monument perched on a massive rock which rises abruptly from the plain to tower over the old city. Visited this city during Hindu new year and it was full of local tourists, pilgrims and ceremonies.

Sri Lanka is a tiny tear drop shaped island in the Indian Ocean. It is the essence of South Asia, with a tropical climate, lush green forests and rich history. You can find the attractions of neighboring India and Maldives in this land which is a hundred times smaller than India. People are friendly here, distances between tourist destinations are short, just one thing is the ticket price for what you get in tourist spots really cost more than other Asian countries. After 3 weeks of traveling in Sri Lanka I collected some portraits of local people.

The monuments are arranged in a reasonably compact garden setting and their development is easy to follow. It is best to explore by bicycle, which you can rent from several places in town.
